#GivingTuesday is finally here! As you know, our backyard is home to the mighty Victoria Falls – one of the world’s greatest natural wonders, and among the most powerful and awe-inspiring forces of nature.
But while the Victoria Falls might be mighty in strength and breathtaking in sheer force, its ecosystem is fragile and vulnerable to many threats.
We work at the heart of this ecosystem, empowering the local communities who call it home and protecting the wildlife and habitat so unique to this region. As the inspiring videos below reveal, we are on the front lines every day, safeguarding this vital environment.
This #GivingTuesday, help us make a difference.
Join us in making an impact as strong and powerful as this mighty waterfall – the “smoke that thunders”.
Here’s one last reminder: if you donate today, your contribution will be matched by a generous donor – doubling your impact, and amplifying our efforts to protect this precious ecoregion.
In celebration of the vital work we do in this landscape, we’re sharing four stories below.
Elephant Conservation & Snare Removal: Elephants in the Victoria Falls region face severe threats from poaching and accidental injuries, particularly from snares set by poachers, or in response to human-wildlife conflict. These animals need urgent care and protection.
WATCH BELOW: Our work in snare removal is dangerous and gruelling – but it’s essential. USD 200 will help us fund these efforts as well as provide veterinary treatment, purchase vital medicines, and support disease testing for elephants.
Healthy, connected habitat in and around Victoria Falls is critical for keeping our ecosystem intact and conserving this magical World Heritage Site.
How you can help:
USD 50 can help purchase wire mesh to protect valuable trees from elephant damage – preserving habitat essential for vultures and other wildlife.
Saziso Ncube’s cows provide her family with milk, income, and the ability to plough their fields. Without them, her family couldn’t survive.
How you can help:
Meet Saziso and see how just USD 50 can sustain a family’s cow for a year, and more importantly, provide an opportunity for vulnerable farmers like Saziso to thrive sustainably.
Lions & Human-Wildlife Conflict:
Meet Bongani Dlodlo, our Community Guardian Manager, who works on the front lines of human-lion conflict in the Victoria Falls region. Lions often venture into farmland, leading to attacks on livestock and retaliatory killings by farmers. The survival of lions – and the well-being of farming communities – depends on proactive solutions.
WATCH BELOW: For just USD 50, you can provide talk-time for four community guardians per month.
Through early warning communication, our teams can help keep people, livestock and lions safe when lions venture into farmland.
