This year, we’ve responded to over 100 call-outs — that’s nearly one every three days. Among these, we’ve performed 50 snare removals, the highest number we’ve ever recorded.
The animals we help would have no chance of survival without our incredible teams and dedicated partners on the ground. From unpredictable hours and dangerous treks through thick bush to the immense pressure of knowing we might not be able to save an animal in time, Rescue and Rehabilitation constantly tests us. Yet this year has been particularly challenging.
Why the surge in snares and call-outs? While we can’t pinpoint a single cause, the dire economic conditions in the region, persistent drought, and increased human activity in the Victoria Falls area are putting immense pressure on our wildlife.
When the challenges feel overwhelming, hope often comes in the form of good news — and this time is no exception. Thanks to the generosity of two donors, we have an incredible opportunity: they have pledged a combined match funding of USD 20,000. We are deeply grateful for their support.
But this must be a team effort—it’s only ours if we match it. So far, thanks to you, we have raised USD 1,442 toward our goal of USD 20,000. We’re still a long way from reaching that target, but with your help, we can get there!
