When Technology Meets Conservation

Greetings!

Across more than 3,800 km² of wilderness surrounding Victoria Falls, our team works every day to protect wildlife, support local communities, and respond to conservation crises in real time. As our reach and our impact continues to grow, so do the challenges we face.

Ground-based monitoring alone is time-consuming and limited in scope. Rangers and researchers are often required to make critical decisions with incomplete information –  whether responding to wildlife emergencies, tracking endangered species, or managing human–wildlife conflict.

That’s why we’re investing in technology for conservation.

By integrating drones and GIS mapping systems, we gain a bird’s-eye view of the ecosystem – allowing us to see further, act faster, and make smarter, safer decisions for both wildlife and people.

With your support, we can:

> Safely immobilize and monitor wildlife, including tracking darted animals at night –  critical for the safety of both animals and ground teams.

> Monitor vulture populations during breeding season, assessing nest activity, chick survival, and long-term population health.

> Track rangeland and habitat change that affects wildlife and community livelihoods, using aerial GIS imagery to understand how landscapes change over time.

> Train our team to use advanced software that integrates live tracking and visualization tools for tagged vultures, lions, and elephants –  helping prevent conflict and protect lives.

This year-end, help us take conservation to new heights.

We selected women who were already weavers but were eager to refine and expand their skills. The training broadened their range of products so as to helping them reach new markets, and introduced weaving with sisal – a sustainable, locally available material that, when cultivated for weaving, also helps prevent soil erosion in the drought-prone areas around Victoria Falls.

How your donation helps:

  • USD 100  — Provides one month of airtime to live-track wildlife via camera traps
  • USD 250 — Equips field teams with a device to track wildlife and record data and photos in real time
  • USD 600 — Funds a software subscription to visualize tagged wildlife movements in real time
  • USD 1500 — Enables a team member to attend the Conservation Technology Conference in Kenya (March), strengthening skills and regional collaboration

This work is not just about equipment. It’s about building lasting capacity. Your donation helps train conservation scientists and field teams to master powerful tools that make every mission safer, smarter, and more effective.

Together, we can turn technology into a force for conservation.
